Housing Bloc at Edinburgh May Day

Join the Living Rent Campaign at the Edinburgh May Day march and rally!

There is a long and proud tradition of unity between tenants’ struggles and workers’ struggles. During the Glasgow rent strikes of 1915, when tenants were being taken to court for non-payment, it was the threat of a general strike – the unity of tenants and workers – that forced the government to act.

Today, we know that sky-high rents and rip-off landlords are just the other side of the coin of poverty wages and exploitative bosses, so we will be joining trade unionists and workers’ organisations on a march through Edinburgh to commemorate International Workers’ Day on Saturday, May 7th.

We will gather at Johnston Terrace from 11:00, to set off at midday.

Momentum Edinburgh Meeting #5

David Hume Tower, 27th April

More details upcoming

This is our fifth meeting, where we will hear reports from the working groups and discuss the upcoming EU referendum.

Momentum is the UK-wide movement which emerged from Jeremy Corbyn’s successful campaign for leader of the Labour Party. It exists to support the ideas and values on which Corbyn was elected both within and outside Labour, connecting the party to trade unions, social movements and community campaigns.

Momentum Edinburgh is a hub for local supporters to get together, share experience and ideas, and coordinate our efforts to build peace, democracy and socialism. If you’d like to be added to our mailing list, please email momentumedinburgh [at] gmail [dot] com.

Please feel free to invite people and share the event widely! We look forward to seeing you there!
