Every week, we’ll try to keep you updated with local events – public meetings, strikes, occupations, marches, protests, elections and so on. We might also throw in some cultural goings-on, too. If you know of an event that we’ve missed out, please let us know: momentumedinburgh [at] gmail [dot] com

Edinburgh Left Student Forum Democracy Meeting

19.00 Balcony Room @ Teviot

So let’s talk democracy – how do we want to organise (voting or consensus etc, do we want a commitee), do we want to continue using ESLF as a name or change it, what are our political and campaigning priorities at the moment ? It’s been quite informal up to now so it would be good to hash out some democratic structures and to decide exactly on what we want this to be.

30th Jan to 5th Feb

The Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre offers free confidential support to survivors of sexual violence and rape in Edinburgh and the Lothians. CND is calling a massive demonstration to protest against Britain’s nuclear weapons system: Trident. Join us to say No to government plans to buy a new system at a cost of over £100 billion. Parliament will be voting on this in 2016. So this is urgent – we can’t delay.

We leave Glasgow (George Square) at 2100hrs on the Friday then onto Edinburgh (approx. 1hr 15mins later) then down to London. This will have us arriving early morning (so that the driver gets a rest).

We leave London at 1800hrs on 27th . Accommodation available in Edinburgh if needed.
Tickets are £40 and £20. If you can’t come you can give a donation via Eventbrite to subsidise someone else.
